Dr. Pimple Popper is back with a gnarly pop, and for blackhead lovers, this one’s a good one. In her latest Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper — aka dermatologist and TLC’s Dr. Sandra Lee — is tasked with popping a blackhead in what she deems a “jungle” of hair according to her caption. Despite the patient’s hairiness, the real star of this popping show is the ginormous blackhead.
In order to free the blackhead’s oil and dead skin from its home, Dr. Lee creates an incision over the exposed top of the blemish before she begins the actual task of popping. And pop this thing does. As Dr. Lee begins to squeeze either side of the blackhead with both hands, the gray-brown, mushroom-like contents begin to emerge.
Just like a mushroom, the insides of the blackhead come out in a rounded top, sprouting out of the patient’s skin much like the fungus as it comes out of the earth. Ultimately, the majority of the blackhead comes free, but Dr. Lee has to use a pair of surgical tweezers to finish the job, pulling the contents out of her patient in a satisfying tug.
